Before I Do

On the morning of her wedding, Mona, a British-Indian woman, questions her rushed marriage and reflects on a period of self-discovery from her past.

Haunted by the call of her untamed desires, bride-to-be Mona grapples with the constraints of tradition and her own quest for identity. As her wedding ceremony looms, Mona's encounters with family, memories, and provocative dating app notifications compel her to confront the true meaning of commitment.

Theatre director Gitika Buttoo’s screen directing debut featured at BFI Flare LGBTQIA+ Film Festival 2025. Produced by John Askew, Before I Do was made with the support of BFI NETWORK, awarding National Lottery funding.
