Spanning from 1897 to the present day, the films in the Digital Film Archive cover all aspects of life in Northern Ireland and includes everything from dramas to documentaries, newsreels and features, animation to amateur footage.

Angling in Glenelly County Tyrone and Schools' Rugby Cup Final
In the Glenelly River, an angler battles to land a huge trout. In Belfast, two rugby teams compete ferociously to win the Schools' Cup.

Overview
The Glenelly River in County Tyrone is a much favoured haunt of the angling community and, as demonstrated in these shots, is particularly beloved of trout-fly fishermen. As can be seen from this dynamic footage, the 1962 Ulster Schools' Cup final was keenly contested both on and off the pitch, with fervent supporters packing the ground at Ravenhill. The final finished 6-6, with the trophy shared.
These colourful rushes are amongst a wealth of footage that was generated by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. The Glenelly River has wild brown trout, but is better known for salmon and sea trout fishing. The Ulster Schools' Cup has been competed every year since 1876, making it the second oldest rugby competition in the world.
