Pusher II
Nicolas Winding Refn's sequel follows Tonny (Mads Mikkelsen) on the path to redemption, as he balances a life of crime with the demands of a new family.
Director: Nicolas Winding Refn
Overview
Tonny is a small time crook on a path of self-imposed redemption. Upon leaving prison he discovers he has become a father, and vows to provide for the child. However the more he tries to rectify his new life with his relationship with his father, vicious gangster Duke (Leif Sylvester), the more futile the path seemingly becomes.
Following a brief detour to America for indie thriller Fear X (2003), Nicolas Winding Refn returned to the mean streets of Copenhagen to continue the Pusher trilogy. The film established former professional dancer Mikkelsen as a highly effective antihero in advance of his notoriously villainous turns in Casino Royale (2006) and Doctor Strange (2016).
