The Survivalist
In a post-apocalyptic world, a forest-dwelling loner is forced to reckon with two women in order to survive.
Director: Stephen Fingleton
Overview
In a post-apocalyptic world, a forest-dwelling loner (Martin McCann, ’71) is forced to reckon with two women (Nymphomaniac’s Mia Goth and Olwen Fouere) who need him – or at least his food and shelter – to survive.
The debut feature from Stephen Fingleton is a hugely impressive production, making the most of its modest budget to approach post-apocalyptic fiction with a freshness and focus often missing from the more expansive releases. Utilising minimal dialogue, highly original sound design and starkly composed cinematography, Fingleton creates a tangible and believable world without recourse to showy special effects. The result is a lean and intelligent work that lingers in the memory.
