French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Annaud (The Name of the Rose) presents an immersive and gripping re-enactment of the events of 15th April 2019, when a fire threatened to destroy Notre-Dame. Combining dramatised scenes that have been meticulously reconstructed to mirror the action from within as the firefighters battled to subdue the blaze, with amateur videos and archive news footage from the day, this is a breathtaking viewing experience. We also follow the emergency services struggling through both traffic and crowds of concerned bystanders in the rush to rescue priceless artefacts and get support teams and equipment through. This is epic drama painstakingly created with a documentarian’s eye.

With a thrilling screenplay from Thomas Bidegain (A Prophet), the audience is also granted moments of light relief as we witness Parisians across town dealing with their own burning issues.
