Kiss Me Kate
Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson brush up on their Shakespeare.
Musical 1953 110 mins
Director: George Sidney
Overview
Cole Porter’s best musical – a backstage reworking of The Taming of the Shrew – made it to the big screen with an A-list cast (and originally in 3D!) Porter’s lyrics sing with acid wit and innuendo, and every 3D trick in the book is employed as Ann Miller flings her glove in your face and Tommy Rall practically swings into your lap. But even in this standard presentation George Sidney's enduring adaptation is a visually extravagant delight.
