Overview

This classic drama from Federico Fellini’s follows five young Italian men and their different attempts to disrupt the drudgery of provincial life. Winner of the Silver Lion at Venice Film Festival, I Vitelloni marked a turning point in Fellini’s approach as he moved away from the influence of neorealism to a more personal style.

His naturalistic depiction of young men and their foibles, failures and tomfooleries influenced a generation of American filmmakers including Martin Scorsese (see Mean Streets), George Lucas (American Graffiti) and Stanley Kubrick, who named it one of his favourite films.
