Produced by the Safdie brothers, Owen Kline’s feature debut about a young comic book artist is an unsettling coming-of-age comedy filled with awkward humour and questionable characters.
Director: Owen Kline
Overview
After witnessing a traumatic event involving his art teacher, 17-year-old Robert (Daniel Zolghadri, Eighth Grade) drops out of high school, leaves his parents’ comfortable suburban home and takes up a job to support his devotion to cartoons. When he meets Wallace (Matthew Maher), a highly volatile man who used to work in the comicbook industry, Robert’s fascination – bordering on obsession – with his new mentor takes him to very dark and uncomfortable places.
