Adult Life Skills
Anna (Jodie Whittaker) is an emotionally stunted 30-year-old living in her mum’s shed, learning to confront adult reality, in Rachel Tunnard’s quirky debut.
Director: Rachel Tunnard
Overview
Anna (Jodie Whittaker) is an emotionally stunted 30-year-old living in her mum’s shed, who spends her days working at a local boating centre and filming videos using her thumbs as actors. But soon a sequence of events will force her to confront reality and re-emerge into adult existence.
The feature debut of experienced editor Rachel Tunnard is a quirky, charming and delicately mounted comedy, blessed with a delightfully engaging lead performance from Whittaker. Anna’s scatty inner psyche is reflected in a richly detailed production design which emphasises DIY contraptions and charity-shop chic, recalling winning British features like Son of Rambow and Submarine, although Tunnard’s droll tone is all her own.
