Trip to Lynmouth
The seaside resort of Lynmouth is the destination for this car trip.

Overview
In 1938 holiday pay became statutory leading to many working families taking holidays together. The rise of the motorcar and the railways also made coastal retreats popular with visitors from the major urban centres. After the onset of war in 1939 and the evacuation of children to the countryside, family holidays were rare and such happy days did not return until the 1950s.
Lynton and Lynmouth are situated on the most northerly coast of Devon and reputed for high sea cliffs, ravines and waterfalls. The villages are connected by the water powered Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway which was designed and built in the late Victorian era. The village of Lynton atop the cliff and the seaside resort of Lynmouth are part of Exmoor and the natural beauty, unspoilt landscape and wooden lodges have given the area the nickname of Little Switzerland.
