Small Silk Weaving Factory

Redundant weaver continues the traditions of the East Anglian silk industry, opening a new factory in Castle Hedingham, Essex.

World famous textile manufacturers Warner & Sons closed their factory at New Mills in Braintree, Essex in 1971 making many weavers redundant. One of those weavers decided to acquire the equipment and set up a new silk weaving factory in Castle Hedingham. Anglia TV reporter Peter Barsby visits the factory and speaks to new proprietor Richard Humphries about his decision to continue the tradition of producing the world's top furnishing silks.
