Whiling away the time has disastrous consequences for two distracted women in this amusing comedy from Distaff Films
Opening with a visual pun, this film shows two women passing the time by knitting, reading, having a cup of tea, smoking cigarettes and refreshing their make-up. A pack of cards is produced and the women start to play. Soon there's a sizable pot of money on the table, which the older woman takes but not without a fight erupting. A policeman enters the scene and hauls the women away. We see a sign for HM Prison Holloway where the women, now behind bars, have all the time in the world.
Established in 1959, the Woking Cine Club devised and produced a number of amateur fiction and non-fiction films from the 1960s to the 1990s. In 1984 the club changed its name to Woking Film Makers, with a mission to encourage film production as a hobby and to further the knowledge and skills of its members. Besides documentary films and instructional films, the group produced numerous fiction films, often with darkly comic themes.
