Police Constable Barber in rural Suffolk, performing the many and varied duties of a village copper. An Anglia TV production, televised 1960.
Off duty, Constable Barber leisurely tends to his garden allotment. On the beat, however, even for a country policeman, there is much work to be done. The Constable visits a pig farm, to check the farmer’s paperwork. He visits a primary school to check the road safety of the pupil’s bicycles, and later, passing along a country lane, catches a pheasant poacher red-handed. Anglia TV’s Dick Joice interviews this ‘jolly nice chap’ who polices the village of Wrentham in Suffolk.
