Carn Brea Castle transformed into a restaurant
Carn Brea Castle undergoes restoration and becomes a restaurant

Overview
The 14th Century castle of Carn Brea meaning rocky hill is refurbished into a restaurant. The castle has a grade II English Heritage listing since 1975 and offers stunning views of the surrounding area of Redruth and Camborne mining district. In the past granite outcrops such as Sliding or Cup and Saucer Rock and Smuggler’s Cave surrounding the hilltop retreat would have given respite to local miners and their families on days out with St Euny’s Well giving fresh water.
The settlement dates back to the Iron Age and Neolithic period. First a chapel and then a Hunting Lodge, it became a restaurant following extensive restoration and offers Middle Eastern cuisine. The owner, originally from Jordan, bought it following studies at Camborne. In 2006 an engineless 1962 turquoise Ford Anglia owned by South West Film Studios and which featured in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), was found at the Castle after a prankster's joke. In the film the car flies thanks to a magic button and South West Film Studios had just gone into administration.
