As Fleet As the Swallows
Stirring scenes from the Harwich Regatta
Overview
Mind that sail! Topical Budget's cameraman risks a soaking to shoot a tense yachting competition of the Essex coast. There's some fine photography here, giving a real sense of the astonishing speed with which these sleek vessels cut the waters, though the sea mist slightly spoils the longer shots.
The Harwich Regatta, like other yachting events at Henley and Cowes, was a fixture on the newsreel calendar, all-but guaranteeing attractive images - and often (though not here) a spot of royalty, too.
