Streatham Children's Pageant
Time for Britannia to get off the bus - the Queen is coming to Streatham
Overview
A group of excited south London children play fancy dress by royal appointment and for a good cause in this entertaining newsreel. Piling out of the bus to put on a show and raise funds for the war effort are Britannia, a nun, several German soldiers, and perhaps a princess or two. The costumes suggest that the children's performance will touch on the ongoing war, and the scope of the British Empire - suitably patriotic subjects for a pageant to be performed in front of Queen Mary herself.
