Leeds Mayoral Procession For the Coronation Celebrations (1902)
Edward VII's rescheduled coronation was held on 8th August, not a nice day in Leeds...
Overview
The deputy Lord Mayor and aldermen of the city of Leeds process down the main streets in the drizzle of Coronation Day. The holiday was celebrated in similar style across the country - Mitchell & Kenyon's cameras also captured events in Bradford, Wigan and Accrington. After the dignitaries have passed, the crowds that have been held up for them seem to dash off - perhaps to escape the rain.
