Sedgefield Medieval Fayre

Travelling back to the Middle Ages in 1970s Sedgefield.

The ‘me decade’ meets the Middle Ages at the flamboyant Sedgefield Medieval Fayre, held every May at the historic village green since 1970. The clash of centuries is memorably weird. A not so medieval maiden flashes a pink garter to attract chivalrous knights, and a juvenile jazz band and steam traction engine vie for attention with a dunking stall, fake stocks and pantomime horse race, one steed named 'The Ceddesfeld Streaker'.
