Overview

Filmed in Brockley Hill’s Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where children are shown receiving treatment for “poor distorted bodies and crooked limbs”. Sun treatment is key, and the children are shown in beds in the open air, where they eat and sleep - weather permitting. The children are also shown at play, cuddling goats and hens. Also shows a training college, finding careers for those with permanent disabilities. Ends with a plea for funds and volunteers.

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital was opened in 1905 in two sites, on Brockley Hill in Stanmore and also in London at Great Portland Street. The latter hospital, which closed in 1984, is also briefly shown in this film.
