From the thrills of steeplechasing in County Armagh, to flat-racing at the famed Maze Races in County Down, two of Northern Ireland’s most historic horse-racing events.
From the collection of:

Overview
The "sport of Kings" in two different guises, as seen in two of the regions' most celebrated horse-racing locales. Jockeys, horses and spectators congregate for the beginning of the Tynan and Armagh point to point, a gruelling steeplechase across rugged terrain. Then we are transported to Down Royal Racecourse where a huge crowd gathers on the main stand and trackside to watch the action.
Rushes by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. The Tynan and Armagh point to point is over a century old and has always been held by kind permission of the Leeman family at Farmacaffley. The racecourse is between the Newtownhamilton Road and the Keady Road, approximately 1 mile from Armagh. Situated at the Maze, Lisburn, horse-racing started at Down Royal Racecourse in the 17th Century.
