A Northamptonshire Village
Attractively-shot amateur film of village and rural life in Green's Norton, taken in the summer of 1944.
Overview
The war seems very distant in this attractively-shot amateur film, made in the summer of 1944 in and around the village of Green's Norton, near Towcester. Though there are a few uniforms here and there (including on one lad far too young for active service) life goes on much as it always has. There's bread to be baked, horses to be shoed and the harvest to bring in - with help from a land girl or two. A village fete offers a welcome break from the hard work.
