Village Pet
Billy the pet seal adapts to village life in Wereham, Norfolk.
Overview
This heart-warming newsreel item shows Billy, the 'pet' seal, tentatively accepting a fish supper from his adoptive family - the good folks of Wereham in Norfolk (spelt Wareham in the intertitle). Billy was caught in the Wash and rehoused in the village pond, where, we can only assume, he enjoyed a full and happy life, and was doted on by the local children. It's perhaps not the most newsworthy of stories, but animal antics were always popular with Topical Budget. When it comes to a cutie like Billy, who could blame them?
