Hats off to the huge crowds that turn out for the opening day of the football season at Arsenal and Chelsea.

Overview
London welcomes the football season with exuberant hat-waving. First it’s Chelsea vs Bradford in the Second Division at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won 2-0 and the camera captures a goal, as well as one hilarious miss-kick. Next it’s Highbury where Arsenal face Spurs in front of 53,000 – including a couple of women (or “more women fans than ever”, as the enthusiastic caption writer puts it). Spurs won 1-0 but the focus is Arsenal’s big money (“Ј100 a goal”) star Charlie Buchan.
