Great Local Derby, Accrington v Church Cricket Match (1902)
Rare film record of an Edwardian local league cricket game between two Lancashire sides.
Overview
The Lancashire Cricket League was established in the early 1890s (shortly after the birth of the Football League) to suit the interests of factory workers, and was hugely popular in the county. Played on Saturdays and midweek, games were completed within one day. The Accrington v. Church match was filmed on 5 July, with Accrington's professional bowler, Walter Hall, dispatching Church for 46 runs.
