Overview
Cardiff Cine Club member, Evan Morgan, puts his camera to good use to record his other passion – motorcycles. Riders from the Motorcycle Club in Pontypridd, Evan’s home town, are seen with their bikes and supporters – family and friends – and racing around the track at The Aberdare Park at Trecynon, Aberdare, spectators protected by straw bales.
The first race meeting to be held at the park took place in September 1950. Two meetings a year took place there until 1964, when council alterations left little space for spectators and racing was cancelled. It recommenced in 1978, with restricted spectator space, and racing at this venue is still undertaken today.
