Crowning Ceremony Flint Rose Queen 1930
It’s a bright, blustery day in north-east Wales as the people of Flint crown their annual Rose Queen.
Overview
You can practically hear the tambourines jingling and the brass band striking up in this charming film of a 1930s Rose Queen festival in the Welsh town of Flint. A lively procession makes its way through the streets, before the queen receives her crown from the town’s top brass. She looks resplendent, but the crowd of locals receives as much attention from the patient camera operator, giving a fascinating impression of a whole town in the festival spirit.
