In the Medway Valley

Take a trip along the course of the River Medway in this lyrical film from the 1930s - from its source up in the Sussex Downs, through pastoral Kent to the historic town of Aylesford.

This remarkable film traces the passage of the River Medway from its source on Turner's Hill in Sussex to the historic town of Aylesford, long associated with the Anglo-Saxon conqueror Hengist. There is particular attention paid to the many ancient bridges that cross the river at various points on the journey. We pass a number of castles, locks and stretches of river, where day-trippers can be seen relaxing on the water and numerous anglers fish from its banks.
