As London slowly comes to life, the early morning peace is shattered by a dramatic police chase.

The sights and sounds of the city at 6am form the peaceful backdrop for a burglary and a young man awaiting the birth of his first child. Even more captivating than the incidental narrative, though, are the views of 1950s London: from street drinkers to Covent Garden porters, to a pre-Crossrail Charing Cross Road and the stall serving steaming cups of tea to the early birds.
