Ambition
In this spectacular and unusual sci-fi short commissioned by the European Space Agency, a young apprentice in the art of terraforming planets is given a tutorial by her enigmatic master.
Overview
Tomek Bagiński’s short film is set in the far future, starring Aidan Gillen and Aisling Franciosi as trans-human world-builders terraforming a rugged alien landscape, and reflecting on the curiosity, drive and ambition which led to the discovery of the origins of life on Earth. The film, commissioned to complement the public awareness campaign around the European Space Agency’s Rosetta Mission, is remarkable in its blending of sci-fi fantasy with ‘real’ science communication.
A collaboration between Platige Image and ESA, Ambition premiered on 24 October 2014 during Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder, at BFI Southbank, London.
