Old Maid's Valentine
Early comedy in which a cruel joke is played on an old maid
Overview
The eponymous old maid in this early comic film, seated in the parlour with her cat, receives an envelope addressed to Miss Pimple. A calendar on the wall tells us it's February 14th. Could it be a valentine? Love at last? Her expression indicates that she thinks it is, until the note is opened to reveal a picture of a baby and the legend "just like Mama". Oh dear.
