Story of a Letter
A teacher's homemade documentary, peeking behind the scenes at Woodford Green post office.
Overview
This homemade documentary, peeking behind the scenes of the post office at Woodford Green in north east London, was made by junior school teacher and amateur filmmaker Ethel Ward. More than just a cute classroom resource, it's a peep into bygone Redbridge, and a lost world of car-free streets, peak-capped posties and tuppence-ha'penny stamps.
Incidentally, if you were to walk the distance the letter's posted – from Higham Road to Warley Road – it would take you almost exactly as long as this film lasts!
