The star of Beast, Wild Rose, Women Talking and the recent recipient of the Best Actress Bafta for Hamnet talks to Mark Kermode about her career.
A RADA graduate, Buckley rose to fame through her participation in the BBC talent show, I'd Do Anything. Her film debut, Beast, saw her play opposite Johnny Flynn as embattled Jersey tour guide, Moll. Then came her breakout roll in Tom Harper's musical drama, Wild Rose. about a single mum - recently released from prison - who dreams of being a country music star.
More recently Buckley's appearances in films by Sarah Polley (Women Talking) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter) have brought her critical acclaim and award nominations, a run that has continued with her latest film, Chloé Zhao's Hamnet, for which Buckley has been Oscar-nominated.
