The Crossing
A small village looted in darkness, a family forced to flee...this beautiful animation is a story of exile and the road from childhood to adolescence.
Director: Florence Miailhe
Overview
Two children, Kyona and Adriel, are separated from their parents in the chaos that follows a village looting. Facing the road of exile alone, they embark on a heroic journey crossing a continent torn apart by war and migrant persecution in search of shelter, peace and the hope of finding refuge and their family.
Dedicated to “all those who, one day or another, leave their homeland in the hope of finding a better future somewhere else,” The Crossing is also an homage from the director to her own mother and grandmother, forced to leave Odessa in 1905 to flee the pogroms. A film comprised of striking, animated paintings with universal qualities that speak of exile and the road from childhood to adolescence.
