              Overview

In the remote Mexican village of El Eco, life consists of the most elementary, basic things. Being a child of labouring farmers is an intense experience involving nature, animals and people, but also love, intimacy, illness and death. Here, granddaughters movingly take care of their grandmothers until they die. Accompanying three families, documentarian Tatiana Huezo takes a sensitive and poetic approach as she brilliantly weaves a host of faces and gestures to portray stories of the care-working matriarchy in a country notorious for its innumerable kidnappings of young women and girls.
