Wake Up Punk
Nigel Askew's documentary explores the punk movement, featuring revealing insights from designer and punk icon Vivienne Westwood.
Director: Nigel Askew
Overview
In 2016, Joe Corré, son of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, set fire to £5 million pounds' worth of punk memorabilia. Stunt, protest or incredible waste of money? Nigel Askew's documentary explores the rise of punk, its fall into the mainstream and its sustained spirit within climate activism and beyond. Featuring highly personal interviews with the Westwood-McLaren family, this is the first feature from Askew, an activist and fashion archivist.
