Enverounen
An elderly man takes a hypnotic journey through his memories in the moments before his death.
Overview
‘Enverounen’ is a Middle English word meaning to surround or wander throughout, and this ambitious experiment in editing takes the viewer on a tour through a man’s past in his final moments. Using elaborate cutting of sound and image, this mesmerising film compresses his life into a few minutes as he wanders between places that formed the backdrop to the different phases of his existence.
Enverounen was the screen debut for both director Simon Mallin and cinematographer/editor William Diver. Mallin went on to pursue a career in feature film production and later worked at the National Film School, while Diver became a successful editor.
