Blind Love
In this bizarre but bittersweet erotic comedy, a ventriloquist supplies the voice for his best friend when he begins dating a visually impaired girl. Daisuke Gotô
Director: Daisuke Gotô
Overview
In this Cyrano-De-Bergerac-esque comedy of errors, a blind girl falls in love with a ventriloquist by merely being able to hear his voice. However, when she meets him, she mistakes his friend for the ventriloquist. She starts dating the friend without realising it's the wrong man and not the man she fell for. An example of the strange extremes of the modern Japanese 'Pink' film (low budget erotica), Blind Love also showcases the outlandish (and politically incorrect) sensibility of director Daisuke Gotô, who is as fond of quoting Ozu as he is Emmanuelle. This rough 'n' ready digital production even played the odd international film festival and Gotô's mix of weird sex, warped comedy and bittersweet romance makes for a strangely charming experience.
