        Drat That Boy!

A boy being supervised by his grandmother sees a chance for mischief

        Comedy 1904 2 mins Silent

        Overview

Naughty boys and girls were a popular staple of early film comedy. This mischievous little tyke certainly has a good eye for an opportunity, revenging himself on his tyrannical grandmother by cunningly applying a pair of bellows just as she has her face buried in a sooty stovepipe. It's a variation on the classic foot-on-the-hosepipe gag, as immortalised on film in the Lumiere Brothers L'Arroseur arrosé (France, 1895), remade in Britain by Bamforth as The Biter Bit (1900).
