Time to Give
Kind deeds and knitted squares in big-hearted Sussex.
Overview
A veritable army of volunteers appear in this down-to-earth charity appeal for the Sussex Red Cross. Dispensing kind words and practical support to the elderly, the sick and the disabled, they visit homes, hospitals and community events around the county, from Ardingly showground in the north to Worthing on the coast.
The precisely-enunciated tones of the commentary belong to Alvar Lidell, a BBC news reader and radio announcer, whose voice became synonymous with the reading of the news during World War II.
