This simple view of bustling Adderley Street, Cape Town's principal shopping street, was taken by amateur filmmaker Robert A. Mitchell from Ireland while visiting South Africa just before the 2nd Boer War. It shows a wide street of handsome shops including W Duncan and Co. the Drapers and up to the minute electric trams.
