A seemingly endless line of campaigners march through Hanwell in peaceful protest, united under the banner of nuclear disarmament.
This short film captures the 1963 march from Aldermaston to London organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament that took place during Easter. Many of the protestors carry banners declaring where they have come from, although the main sign visible is the peace symbol. Beneath the banners are individuals of all ages, while traffic is diverted around their unstoppable protest for peace. After the march reached London, 10,000 protestors filled Trafalgar Square.
This film is from the collection of Vestry House Museum, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
