Building the new library in Hythe
Hythe is the location for this short film which features a new library under construction as well as other views of this attractive Kent coast town
From the collection of:

Overview
Our film starts at a buiding site where we see workmen busy constructing the town's new library in Stade Road. We see the bandstand in Oaklands Park, which backs onto the library and council offices, before moving to the Royal Military Canal. Here we see the Ladies Walk Bridge as well as further views of flowing trees and shrubs in the town's many parks and gardens. Our film ends with a view of St Leonard's parish church - one of Kent's most distinctive churches.
The Royal Military Canal, which features in this film, was originally built as a defence against invasion during the Napoleonic Wars. It runs along the northern edge of Romney Marsh for 26 miles from Hythe to Winchelsea in the west.
