Welsh Hike 1938
Summit-seekers attempt Snowdon and, blessed with good weather, cool off in river, lake or sea.

Overview
Those making the attempt on Snowdon are members or friends of the Wright family from Bristol who frequently holidayed in Wales. Although weighed down with bulging rucksacks, they enjoy the good weather and open air eating and swimming. Several have the nerve to cross a unique bridge when they come to it.
Footage shot by Philip John Wright (1913-87) who became a master printer, engineer and inventor, running the Bristol-based medical and scientific printers and publishers John Wright and Sons, established by his great-grandfather John Wright at Stonebridge House, Bristol. John Wright and Sons later took over Dorset Press of Dorchester. Philip John started filming on leaving Clifton Grammar School in the 1930s and made a machine (partly from Meccano pieces) for stop-motion photography, taking images of flowers. Articles on his filming exploits appeared in Amateur Cine World Magazine, and he also made and exhibited model boats. He married Brenda Roseveare and they had 3 children.
