D. H. Lawrence - literary hero or dirty old man? It's time for the people of his home town to decide.

D. H. Lawrence grew up in Eastwood in Nottinghamshire where opinions are divided on a proposal to name a street, 'Chatterley Mews' after the author's most controversial literary creation. As reporter John Withington finds out, more than forty years after his death the town's most famous son is still a divisive figure. One councillor even suggests that the wives who move into Chatterley Mews might feel uncomfortable with the connection.

A check of Eastwood today reveals that the proposal never came to fruition. However, those seeking a physical embodiment of Lawrence's infamous novel, Lady Chatterley's Lover, can call in for a pint at the Lady Chatterley pub.
