Progress Report II
Two steps forward, one step back as Glasgow’s housing schemes sees residents go from tenement, to prefab, to pebbledashed concrete cottages
Overview
The notorious Glasgow tenements had to go, but the struggle to replace them in the shortened circumstances of postwar Britain led to many compromises. This film released two years after the first 'Progress Report' focusses mostly on the Pollok area in the south west of the city. It gives two thumbs up to progress on the far-sighted plans which modern eyes can see led to shortsighted solutions.
The film also looks at developments in Greenfaulds, Springboig, Balornock and Milton.
