The Johnny Leyton Touch
Joe Meek recording artistes John Leyton and Iain Gregory perform some of their biggest hits in this terrific promo film.
Overview
A chunk of pop gold from the pre-Beatles early 60s. Joe Meek-produced recording artiste John Leyton (best remembered for 'Johnny Remember Me') performs his hit singles 'Wild Wind' and 'Son, This is She' (both written by regular Meek collaborator Geoff Goddard) and introduces Iain Gregory, who performs his own hit 'Can't You Hear the Beat of a Broken Heart' (written by Meek himself, under his Robert Duke pseudonym).
Leyton and Gregory are backed by Charles Blackwell and his orchestra, who are also seen performing the instrumental number 'Taboo'. While Meek and Goddard sadly don't appear in this fab film, legendary session drummer Clem Cattini (who played on The Tornados' international number one hit single Telstar, as well as numerous other chart-toppers over the decades) can be seen behind the drum kit.
