Overview
A colour film of African wildlife by the ‘Ker, Downey and Selby Safari Company’, set up by Donald Ker, Sydney Downey and Harry Selby. Filmed around the Ngorongoro Crater – the world’s largest unflooded and unbroken Caldera (the cauldron-like depression created following the evacuation of a volcano’s magma chamber). Now a World Heritage Site known as the ‘Ngorongoro Conservation Area’, it is located west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands of Tanzania. The film illustrates the rich diversity of wildlife, from prides of lions to zebras, flamingo, leopards and Rhinoceros.
The film includes footage of Wildebeest, Cape Buffalo, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, Velvet monkeys, Hook-lipped (black) Rhinoceros, flamingos on Lake Manyara and dung beetles.
