Overview

The Hurley 21 'Anonymous Bay' returns to Falmouth bringing award winning Trans-Atlantic yachtswoman Margaret Hicks home. Hicks’ yacht was too large for the Min-Transat, so undeterred she lopped a foot off the bow! Hicks is known for having broken world records for women competing in the Trans-Atlantic race and also records for crossing the Bay of Biscay seven times.

in 1963 George Hurley a carpenter and ship builder started a small business in his backyard in Keyham, Plymouth with two employees Reg Yates and Ernie Miners. He passed his designs to designer Ian Anderson, to help him with providing the family yachtsmen with a medium to heavy displacement seaworthy yacht. Introduced in 1964 the Hurley 22 was an instant hit and from the outset was intended to be a yacht used for racing as well as cruising.
