Overview
Opening scenes show heavyweight Phil Scott from Paddington training for a fight with William “Young” Stribling, an American. Between scenes of boxers separately sparring and skipping – Stribling under the watchful gaze of a textbook spiv – we see Scott, who spent two years in the London Fire Brigade, putting out a blaze during a “complimentary luncheon at Wimbledon Stadium”. The fight, on 28th July, was won by Stribling after a knockout. Scott retired soon after.
