Troops from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa march through the capital to celebrate the end of WWI.
Shot by Joseph Best, this footage captures the celebratory march through London of dominion troops on 3 May 1919, following the end of WWI. The parade included troops from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Newfoundland. The location of Best’s camera appears to be the Strand: the canopy of the Adelphi Theatre, then playing ‘The Boy’, is glimpsed, as is a billboard for Turnbull & Reakes, a nearby tailors.
